newbie with a 1000 datto pannle van a16 with t50 box n locker

Post by perthute on Sat Jun 27, 2009 12:24 pm

hey guys my names jordan
i was drifting at barbs in the 08-09 battles ( love it ) but the sport was getting too $$$
and my brother just started dirt racing in his gemini pannel van around xmas just gone doing the autocross @ quit plex so i though i'd give it a go being a datto nut i had a few dattos spare lol and after watching my older bro i came up with the 1000 chassis would be best due to its light weight ( 560kg's) so i dumped a 120y motor in and welded the diff put some 13x8 wheels on and just made the last round , was late so no test run first run was slow due to sussing out the track 2;03 sec run had a spin 2;04 3run was hot but last lap broke a engine mount and extractors hitting steering = a 1;59 was a good time but the car had much more last run after some doggie fix ups and it all went down hill the heavy bumps and doggy engine mount = mount braking again and the upper control arm coming loose so had to limp over the line with a 2;01
going on the fastest time from a rwd was 1;55 i wasnt far off
so i now have the bug and started planing on how to chop off the 4 sec's
so got a a15 bored out to a 1603 with twin sidedraught 40's jts head ect ect with a toyota t50 5 speed so that sould sore out the power has the 120y motor was blank lol
to to get the car to hanndle the bumps better hmm looks like the factor shocks hahaha better change these
and lastly chopping the gaurds to allow the wheels to travale with out hitting
so just got a few lil things to sort out and i'll be ready

hope ya like the pic's
and any help on getting this beast out on the dirt has its a while untill the summer autocross

nice one mate, would be good to see it have a run aroudn our track in bunbury. Completely differnt to the quit autocross, ours is on a purposly built autcross track with gravel/clay surface. Definatly be the first wagon at the track!! If you wanna come for a play, our events our multiclub events, and your l2s cams licnece is what you need. Our next event is on the 19th july, and entries will open shortly with entry forms and regs online soon.

looks like the wagon woudl go quiet good, just ask if you need any help mate. www.swtcc.com.au

3 weeks!! Get yer arse in to gear, mate you will love it. Lots of tight twisty stuff & a bit of high speed too. Carl that runs at Kwinana does it )Green Mk1 Escort) He does well when not snapping axles!
